A long time have I played this game among others and seen how people grew and act.
I had intended to host, but after a series of bashings from several groups, I have a message to any reader:
Please do not play this game. The community are a highly oppressive and religious bunch who believe in "No good deed goes unpunished" and make up their own rules beyond any rights you believe you may have. Please play any other game. While its true assholes are everywhere, more games are current. This game is controlled and monopolized by greedy people who only want the best for themselves. Entry into this game will result in having no real freedom on gametype to play and being heavily scrutinized for any little thing will be common. Your popularity will be based on how much you can kiss ass to the majority of Europeans who control this game.
Your life will be dictated in and out of the game as endless instant messaging spam and holier-than-thou attitude in forumboards will rain down on you. Any outside help beyond their control is met with resistance. They will log your IP through the servers. They will attempt to use Denial of Service attacks and they will even program malicious modifications in hope of searching your hard drive. Playing in DeusEx gives the player as many rights as living in a third world nation. I know this very well...and this is the MAIN REASON why when I could, I started playing this game on LINUX through WINE. Thanks to the people here, I armed myself to the teeth in system defenses and security based operating systems due to the level of hacking and cheating in the eyes of both the PLAYER and the MALICIOUS CODER who thinks its funny to hurt others.
I don't speak out of my ass. I have been here since the beginning and today around 30 - 40 is the number of people who play on average simultaneously. I have been a clan leader, A server host, a site builder as well as a modder, mapper and texturer. Creating a project will result in someone downloading it, changing one part and claiming it as theirs to the point everyone has to put protection on modifications just to retain self-ownership as the controlling clans will claim ownership over anything. The first party company who made this game no longer exists and has not supported the game much.
If you must play this game, play only the singleplayer and forget about any forumboard or multiplayers associated with this game. The people here may look friendly, but in a short-while will prove to be scum and kids turned adults, who never learned to grow up. Most will show their under-developed selves and will even have no sense of shame. Like everywhere, you may meet decent people to your liking here, but it will not compare to what you give up in doing so.
Looking back on this game I must admit I truly regret my experience here. Sure, I managed to reach the top of the ladder many years ago, but the rudeness, unfairness and unbalanced gameplay this game offers along with the politics of players who try to get an advantage before a match starts is really pathetic. At first I thought it was perhaps me...Maybe I was the asshole, or the one with the attitude, but then looking back and how I lived in the real world and online world, I got my answer. I truly regretted my experience here and if you are a new player...I urge you to find another game and spare yourself the torment and masochism you will face here.
I know I am being harsh, but people here try to convince you all you need is them and this game. When this was one of four shooters I played, I liked it for the singleplayer mostly...but when I exposed myself to many more online games in many genres, spoke to people and played the game...trust me, its this game and its people along with their demands and attitude that is the problem and not yours. I look back on my experience here and I can finally have the courage to put it in writing.
You only live once..Make your time count! Don't waste it here.
